A lot of our wines are hand selected, and maybe lesser known, but they all deliver on great taste and value! Included in the range are some heart gladdening wines, all available at £7.50 per bottle – pick from this selection below:
Try some juicy reds:
Bellefontaine Merlot – a gem from the south of France. Perfect with a plate of our delicious cheeses and oatmeal biscuits.
Burlesque – a wine made from Zinfandel grapes grown in the US. A herby roast chicken is it’s next best friend.
Pasquiers Grenache Noir – another fruity wine from the south of France. A midweek meal of Blacker Hall burgers will be even greater with a glass of this wine.
False Bay Pinotage – made from South Africa’s very own special grape variety. The lightness of this wine makes it a great partner to a pork chop or some pork cheeks cooked long and slow.
Or some meaty reds:
Jarrah Ridge – a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes from Australia. This classic combination of grape varieties makes this wine a generous companion. Try a bottle with sausages and beans, or our new Beef Stir-Fry.
Aliança Bairrada – a Portuguese wine with great depth of flavour. With a dry finish, this wine will be a wonderful addition to a casserole of Blacker Hall sausages.
Vista TR – another Portuguese wine with, as they say, attitude! Try a bottle of this wine with some meatballs (with barbecue sauce) and pasta…perfect!
Percheron Shiraz Mourvèdre – a blend of two grape varieties giving a rich and deep flavour. Our Butchers are great fans of this wine. try it for yourself with Lamb Kleftiko, or the Lamb Shank dish of your choice.
And some fantastic spicy reds:
False Bay Shiraz from South Africa. If you are making any dish including pork and beans, then this wine will add an extra dimension, and it will delight you.
Pasquiers Shiraz from the south of France. Such a great weekday wine and so versatile, whether it’s our new Beef Stir-Fry, our Lamb Tagine or chicken fillets the way you like them.
Perfect fruity rosés:
Casal Mendes – a Portuguese rosé with great fruit taste. A perfect lunchtime choice to have with your Blacker Hall quiche.
Burlesque White Zinfandel – a soft and seductive rosé from the US. Try this wine with our Stilton chicken fillets – a perfect balance.
Mirabello Rosé – and Italian rosé based on the Pinot Grigio grape variety. Have this wine when you are trying our new range of Frittata, as light and refreshing as the dish itself.
Pasquiers Rosé – using a blend of local grapes from the Languedoc, this is a dry rosé with bags of taste. An interestingly different choice to have with a Blacker Hall pork pie.
Some refreshing whites:
Mirabello Pinot Grigio – a longstanding favourite with our customers. Whilst a delightful wine by itself, it is really enhanced by pairing it with our Blacker Hall Wensleydale, Spinach and Sun-Dried Tomato Quiche.
False Bay Chenin Blanc – a South African with a creamy taste and lemon finish. Wonderful with our Blacker Hall Chicken Satay Skewers.
False Bay Chardonnay – another South African wine with the finish like a slice of pineapple. Try this delightful wine with a slice of Blacker Hall Ham Hock Terrine.
Bellefontaine Chardonnay – from the Languedoc, this is a more restrained version of the citrus-dominated grape. Try this wine with some Smoked Mackerel or our Stuffed Mushrooms.
False Bay Sauvignon Blanc – crisp and dry example from South Africa. This wine will love being partnered by any dish containing Goats Cheese. Try your own dish using our one of our range of cheeses. Ask at The Delicatessen for information.
And subtle whites, with a ‘floral aspect’:
Santa Cristina – and Italian blend from Tuscany that has floral aromas. Whilst it can be overwhelmed by strong flavours, this wine will be enhanced by drinking with a plate of our antipasti cured meats.
Madregale – another Italian blend with soft fruit and luscious texture. If you are a fan of our Blacker Hall Chicken Stir-Fry, you will find that this wine is a great friend – of them, and you!
Doricum Cataratto – a wine from Sicily that has some soft fruit both in its aroma and in its taste. The subtlety of this wine means that with something like a spicy Pork Taco, it will both come alive and make sure you get all the taste of the Taco!
