Celebrate with Yorkshire Strawberries

Strawberries and SconesWhat better way to celebrate the Summer than with freshly picked, great smelling and tasting Yorkshire strawberries?

Our Yorkshire strawberries are grown by Spilmans who are based at Church Farm, Sessay, near Thirsk. They have been growing strawberries there since 1970, developing new varieties over the years. They grow a selection in order to achieve great quality produce over a longer period of time – so strawberries can be enjoyed through June and July. Rosie, Christine, Symphony, Korona and Florence are among the varieties they grow as they suit their land and system.

Our Farm Shop Manager, Ruth Elliott, is pictured below picking strawberries at Church Farm and learning more about our supplier.

Try our fresh Yorkshire strawberries with Longley Farm fresh cream, from Holmfirth, or create a delicious Cream Tea with our home-baked fruit scones from our craft Bakery, locally produced jam from our selection, clotted cream and a handful of strawberries.

We’re also enjoying our strawberries with a traditional Victoria Sponge Cake or our selection of meringues…or quite simply on their own!

Be sure to call in and pick up our great tasting, Yorkshire food – perfect for a Summer’s Day!
