Edward Garthwaite and his wife, Cheryl, are responsible for the running of The Farm Shop, whilst Mary (Edward’s sister) and her husband, Matthew, manage the family’s farm. This means looking after the cattle and pigs as well as managing the crops.
Danny is one of our artisan, independent producers, making his award-winning Barncliffe Brie from a small unit in Shelley, between Wakefield and Huddersfield. It’s a favourite amongst our customers and we keep our fingers firmly crossed that his supply can keep up with demand.
David Heap rears his white turkeys just a few miles away at Flowery Fields Farm near Holmfirth. Whilst we source our white turkeys from David all year round, clearly demand increases a hundredfold come Christmas!
Amongst our ever growing selection of artisan gins, one of the most locally distilled is Ray Woolhead’s Divine Gin. Based in Holmfirth, this is a relatively new distillery producing small, but perfectly made batches! Find out more about Ray’s new venture.
James Bramley is Root Vegetable Manager at M.H. Poskitt Ltd. James’ wife, Helen (who is Edward’s middle sister) runs the Greengrocery department in The Farm Shop, so there are high expectations for product quality. James has worked for them for 9 years, managing the farming of the root vegetable crops.
Our high quality asparagus and sumptuous Yorkshire strawberries are grown at the Spilman family farm near Thirsk. We talked to Richard about his experience growing these and various other crops, and also about his favourite ways to eat the produce he grows!
John Darwin grows a variety of vegetables for us just 10 miles down the road. John is passionate about his trade and has harnessed many farming traditions to provide fresh, quality, Yorkshire vegetables all year round.
