John Wright, Free-Range Bronze Turkey Farmer

John Wright Turkeys is a family business with over 50 years experience. John was born in the farmhouse at Holme Farm, Hull, and still rears turkeys there with the help of his son, family and local staff.

Bronze turkeys are a naturally slower growing breed that develop a more succulent and fuller flavour than an intensively reared bird. John is an established member of The Traditional Farmfresh Turkey Association, endorsing the quality, finish, flavour and texture of their turkeys.

Rearing over 1,400 turkeys each year, their birds have the best possible lifestyle. They roam a wildflower meadow with hedges to shelter and forage under. With plenty of fresh air, water and grass to forage on, they are fed on a cereal based diet without the routine use of antibiotics and growth hormones.

Dry plucking the turkeys by hand gives them a superior finish, keeping the skin dry and allowing them to be traditionally hung for 10 days in a refrigerated room to ensure the very best flavour and texture.
