Baked King Scallops with Gruyère, Garlic & Breadcrumbs

Preparation Time: 5 minutes | Cooking Time: 15-20 minutes | Serves: 2

A perfect starter!


  •  6 king scallops
  • 2 scallop shells (or 2 small dishes)
  • 40g fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 lime
  • 20g grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1 clove garlic (minced and mixed with 2 tsp butter)
  • salt & pepper


Preheat your oven to 240°C.

Put the scallops in a bowl and toss in the breadcrumbs until they are well coated. Put three breaded scallops in each scallop shell (or small dish) and sprinkle with the remaining breadcrumbs. Add a teaspoon of garlic butter to each shell, a squirt of lime juice and salt & pepper to taste.

Sprinkle the scallops with Gruyère cheese and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the breadcrumbs are crispy.

Serve with a dressed rocket salad.
