Short Rib Burger with Bonfire Beans

Preparation Time: 2 | Cooking Time: 30 minutes | Serves: 2

We’re gearing up for Bonfire Night by putting a new spin on burger and beans! This recipe – created by our Assistant Butchery Manager, Pete Wood – is a simple, healthy tea that can be on the table in just 30 minutes.

Make your homemade Bonfire Beans as ‘fiery’ as you like with the addition of fresh chilli, or keep things mild and add a classic burger bun. Great for the whole family.

  • 2 Short Rib Burgers
  • 2 slices of Yorkshire Manchego Cheese
  • 2 slices of Smoked Streaky Bacon
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 cloves of Garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 300g Passata
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Puree
  • 60ml Marigold Bouillon
  • 300g (1 can) Borlotti Beans
  • Optional: Fresh Chilli
  • Optional: 2 Burger Buns

  1. Sauté the Garlic in a little Olive Oil
  2. Add Smoked Paprika and stir
  3. Add tomato puree, Bouillon and Passata, and leave to simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Season your Short Rib Burgers to your preference, and place in a pan on moderate heat for 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Add the Smoked Streaky Bacon to the pan.
  6. Add the Borlotti Beans to the tomato mixture and simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, flip the bacon and burgers, cooking for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Flip your burgers one final time, adding Yorkshire Manchego and Smoked Streaky Bacon on top of each burger. Cook for 2-3 minutes, then serve alongside your Bonfire Beans.
  9. Optional extras: We’ve added chopped fresh chilli to our Beans for additional ‘fire’ and a burger bun, but it’s just as delicious without!
