Wool fest
Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th August at Blacker Hall Farm Shop - between 10am - 3pm.
Our super 'sheepish' event day! Joined by the Wool Guild and the volunteers from Colne Valley Museum in our Courtyard. Come down and learn how sheep's fleece is turned into yarn and then clothing. We have live sheep shearing and lots of opportunities to meet and feed our friendly flock of sheep! There’ll be lots of woolly demonstrations and opportunities to have a go yourself!
FREE to attend - just pay your £3 entry into our Little Farmers Trail
The Demos will include:
- Sheepdog handling - 11am on the Saturday morning
- Live Sheep shearing at 10am - 11am on the Sunday morning
- How a spindle and spinning wheel operate - see them in action.
-
Take a seat at the loom and have a go yourself
- Learn about the fleece-to-yarn process
- Learn about different fleeces from different breeds of sheep.
Plus stall holding selling their handmade woollen items.
Little ones can get creative in our craft corner and create their very own sheep pom pom, or do some sewing of their own using the yarn.
A great day of learning for the whole family.
