A little About the Hill Family and their Dairy Farm:

Kidfield Farm, in Hoylandswaine, came into the Hill family in 1947, when Fred Hill and Roy Hill took on the tenancy together. They began with 3 cows, which they milked by hand and sold the milk at the end of the farm lane.

Roy’s son, John Hill and his wife Valerie, with their son James, moved the farm onwards by embracing technological advancements whilst keeping animal welfare their number one priority. They added a state-of-the-art purpose-built robotic milking system to ensure the future of the farm. They now milk around 120 cows whilst working hard to be as self-sufficient as possible. They grow a range of crops such as grass, wheat, barley, maize, beans and oats on the hills surrounding Penistone, to give their cows the best diet possible.

After working away from the farm, James Hill and his wife Alex, returned to continue the succession and the business. Now, as a family, they are pasteurising the farm’s milk so it can be directly sold to the customer in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. Both James and Alex are passionate about creating a low food mile product with the environment in mind.

As a close-knit family team, the Hill family work hard to create the best quality milk possible. Milk from the Hills focuses on sustainability, their aim is to provide fresh local milk and milkshakes to the surrounding area through state-of-the-art vending machines. They offer glass bottles which can be washed and reused, eliminating the need for single use plastics.

They create a product that can’t be beaten for taste, quality and sustainability.
