Easter is a time for gathering. For slowing down. For sharing exceptional food with the people who matter most.
At Blacker Hall Farm, Easter begins with the table, with the perfect Sunday roast, fresh seasonal ingredients and treats worth celebrating. But it’s also about the moments in between. A relaxed family breakfast in the Barn Kitchen. Little ones setting off on an Easter egg hunt. The joy of bottle-feeding a spring lamb.
Whether you’re planning a feast at home or a memorable family day out, we’ve got everything you need to make Easter truly special.
A roast is a must at Easter, and there’s no better place to prepare for it than the Blacker Hall Farm Butchery.
Lamb is the traditional choice, and ours comes from the Woods family near Penistone, just ten miles away — carefully raised and full of flavour.
But if you ask our team, many would recommend our home-reared beef, expertly matured and beautifully tender, or a golden roast chicken that’s simple, comforting and perfect for sharing.
And of course, a great roast is about more than the meat. Our chefs prepare all the essentials — from fluffy roast potatoes and rich gravies to giant Yorkshire puddings — making it easy to create an Easter feast worth gathering around.
Good Friday is traditionally a time for fish, and it’s the perfect excuse to enjoy something exceptional from our fresh fish counter.
Our recommendation this Easter is Skrei cod - a remarkable seasonal fish often described as the finest cod in the world. Caught during its natural migration from the Barents Sea to the Norwegian coast, Skrei is prized for its firm texture, delicate flavour and beautifully white flakes.
Whether simply pan-fried or roasted with seasonal vegetables, it’s a dish that turns a simple Friday supper into something truly memorable.
If you’d rather let someone else do the cooking, why not join us in the Barn Kitchen this Easter?
Our relaxed restaurant is the perfect place to gather with family and friends over great food. Start the day with a hearty Yorkshire breakfast, enjoy a leisurely brunch or settle in for a delicious lunch made with the finest ingredients from our farm shop.
For something a little more special, treat yourself to our Easter-exclusive Cotton Tail Afternoon Tea, packed with seasonal delights, from delicate sandwiches and savouries to carrot sticks with hummus, mini soups and sweet Easter treats.
And for the main event, join us on Easter Sunday and enjoy our three-course special roast menu, thoughtfully prepared using the very best of Blacker Hall produce.
With warm hospitality and food crafted with care, it’s a place where Easter meals become lasting memories.
For little adventurers, Easter at Blacker Hall wouldn’t be complete without our Little Farmers Trail Easter Egg Hunt.
Children can follow the trail around the farm, solving clues and discovering surprises along the way before collecting their well-earned Easter treat.
It’s a wonderful way to explore the farm, burn off some energy and create magical family memories this spring.
Spring is a special time on the farm, and one of the most heartwarming experiences for young visitors is the chance to bottle-feed our lambs.
As part of the Little Farmers Trail, children can meet our newest arrivals and help care for them — a moment of pure joy for little ones and a memory families treasure long after Easter has passed.
Join us on Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd August for a weekend celebrating the very best of Yorkshire. There are some things Yorkshire does better than anywhere else. Great food. Skilled craftspeople. Proud local businesses. Warm hospitality...
Father's Day is often a reason to gather around the table and enjoy food that's been chosen and prepared with care. For many families, that means steak.
When ingredients are in season, they need less doing to them. Flavours are fuller. Cooking becomes more straightforward. A good cut of meat, fresh vegetables harvested at the right time and ingredients that have not travelled unnecessarily far bring enough to the plate.
